A positive number delays the subtitles (moves them later); a negative number makes them appear sooner. Fractional values like 0.5 are supported.

Can a shift push a timestamp below zero?

No — timestamps are clamped at 00:00:00,000, they never go negative.

Move every subtitle cue earlier or later by a custom number of seconds, to fix out-of-sync subtitles.
